Yeah, I've never actually sky dived and now that I have a family to take care of I don't know if I would do it. I think I will try hang gliding instead.

I've always been attracted to sky diving. Does anyone know if it would be dangerous to do it w/ a formerly broken leg. I mean, the landing and all. I hear that part can be pretty rough.

If the leg has healed properly, (and completely) then you shouldn't have a problem. If your really interested than contact an instructor.

I'm in the chicago area, has anybody ever used a sky diving school around here? I'd much rather get a recommendation than blindly pick one off the web.

i reckon there are more dangerous things than skydiving ....i mean any sport has a danger rating and just because there have been more ADVERTISED fatalities does not make it more dangerous....

Consider bungee jumping...where you jump with a rope attached to you as opposed to a parachute.....

Is it relatively dangerous? Well, if something goes wrong, you're pretty much dead. So it's quite unforgiving. Compared to strolling across the street though, statistically, skydiving is a piece of cake in terms of dangerousness.

I'll try it.

I totally agree with this. I had more injuries in 4 weeks wintersport than in 400 skydives (where I had none, except a few bruces from a rough landing).
Of course there are accidents with skydiving, mostly when people freak out or very experienced skydivers who are pushing it too far.

Choose for yourself, it's a lot of fun and highly addictive. Go and ask at your local dropzone about the courses they offer.

Blue skies!
