Skydiving Dangerous
How dangerous is skydiving? Honestly I know there are probabaly sports more dangerous, but from your personal expirence is it dangerous? As my brother wanted to do it but my aunt said it is very dangerous, and their have been stastics on it. But she mixes alot of things up so I am just wondering how bad it really is.

I'm not sure. I think it probably gets a bad rap because everytime there is an accident it gets put all over the news and it made to look like it's more dangerous than it really is.

I've never seen any statistics or anything but I know that I have gone several times and never had an accident and several of my friends have gone over 100 times and they are fine. It just seems extremely dangerous cause when something happens, like a month or so ago when the guy crash landed and lived, it is covered constanly

Yeah, I agree. I was just watching a show last night about a women whose chute didn't open and she lived after a ton of operations. Shows like that and the way the news portrays the sport whenever an accident happens probably make people think it is more dangerous than it really is.
It's just like anything else. With proper training, equipment and safety measures it is pretty safe. If you sent someone scuba diving without any training or safety equipment it would be really dangerous. The same goes for skydiving.

what a feeling...? really?
I want to go bungee jumping for the first time. Lets just say I have some issues I'd like to throw off the bridge as I jump... is it best to jump over water or some kind of inflation...? Also, isn't there some kind of whiplash involved? Someone let me know. I've gotta mull all this info over....

It does not matter what you jump over. Things very, very rarely go wrong and if they do I am afraid it isn't going to matter what you land in - you're f**ked.
Mind you, virtually every other sport is more dangerous - you are far more likely to have an accidednt skiing or snowboarding, playing football et etc

I totally agree. It may even be more dangerous to get in your car and drive to work... at least here in Chicago it is!

The sport is really really fun.. But, it's way too scary for me.. I would prefer living the way i am rather than having a few minutes pleasure and then die.
So, i would rather stay safe!

Yeah, that's probably true - because I know I've always thought skydiving to be a kind of ludicrously insane sport / activity (which, conceivably, nearly any sport can be, lol). I'd still, honestly, be quite uncomfortable doing it, myself, because I have sort of an anxiety over heights, but it may not be as bad as the media, and those inexperienced with the sport, make it out to be.
