innovative new sport

As a skater, I've seen alot of weak products come and go, but so far this one's doing pretty good:

YouTube - Freeline Skates: The Official Team USA Exclusive Video

I have a pair of these (I never back a product unless I try it myself!) and they're really sturdy. I've seen and ridden the plastic knockoffs and have broken alot of skate-like toys, but I wouldnt throw these in that category. Tho strange looking at first, these things have a lot of potential and I think the surface is barely being scratched.

What do you think? Impressive? Impractical? Insane and dangerous?

haha

they look like fun. Perhaps more challenging than skateboarding -- which is already very difficult -- but also maybe they can lead to freedom on backside moves and other surf-style maneuvers. My only complaint is that it seems very difficult to launch airs and railsliding, a major facet of skating, is completely eliminated. Many of the major innovations in skating over the last two decades involved both of those types of moves. Has anyone tried strapping in?

These skates look like they would require a lot of practice but they do look like a lot of fun. I know some skaters who would like to try them. Are they only available in the U.S., or are they available in Europe too? I think I will go to Europe Blog and see if they have any information about them.

These skates are for professionals and are too complex for the beginner and an amateur skaters and it would definitely required too much practice to skate on this.
