PADI Continues to Lead in Diver eLearning

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – 8 August 2006 – PADI Members continue to lead the way the world learns to dive through eLearning, offering increased interactivity to their students with the expanded capabilities now included in the newly revised PADI Open Water Diver Course Multimedia. PADI Members worldwide have relied on this popular program to offer home study convenience to nearly 150,000 PADI Open Water Diver students.

“Home study, referred to today as distance learning, has been a PADI mantra for years,” says PADI Director of Marketing and Communications, Kristin Valette. “We all know that today’s consumer is overwrought with demands, has limited time for traditional training methods and unlimited choice when it comes to recreational activities. That’s why PADI originally developed a digital version of the Open Water Diver course – to provide a fun, flexible and attractive computer-based training option while still maintaining ties to PADI Dive Centers and Resorts. The updated program remains true to this, while enhancing the learning experience by offering the latest developments in digital entertainment, education and technology.”

Users of the revised Open Water Diver Course Multimedia can take advantage of the programs portability to maximize learning flexibility because the program does not require internet access. This allows students to study no matter where they are - at home, on a plane or even while lounging at the beach. The new, engaging format also includes the following features:
  • A new Recreational Dive Planner (RDP) tutorial, converts the RDP Instructions for Use booklet into an interactive multimedia tutorial complete with 3-D effects and animations, making it easier than ever to teach the RDP Table
  • Totally interactive quick quizzes immediately inform users if the correct answer is selected; if not, the program links the student to the section that describes and explains the material
  • Icons throughout the program guide students to high-quality video clips, that reinforce information
  • Printer-friendly knowledge reviews are ready for completion to bring to class
  • PC and Macintosh compatible
PADI’s newly revised Open Water Diver Course Multimedia makes it easy to accommodate today’s consumer’s busy schedule by offering the convenience of computer-based training while still providing a quality learning experience. Available now, PADI Members can order the Open Water Diver Course Multimedia by contacting their PADI Regional Manager or Sales Consultant.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Explore. Dream. Discover.
