Camping food

What sorts of foods do you pack when you head out on a camping trip? Is there any sort of 'tradition' you follow, or something you absolutely must have on every trip.

Me and my friends always have to have a bag of marshmallows. It's a cliché but roasting marshmallows in the middle of a forest with your friends is an experience I think everyone should have at least once in a lifetime. Even if the marshmallows do keep falling off the stick.

I always do marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers for smores. Trail mix, dried fruit and hot dogs usually make the list too.

I used to pack junk foods such as potato crackers, chips, peanuts and more. I also packed foods that can be grilled such as bacon, hot dogs, marinated pork or beef and fresh fish.

What exactly are smores? I hear about them all the time from American campers but they don't seem to have made the journey eastward to Britain yet...

I've stopped taking grilled stuff now since the time my friends and I forgot the stove. We had to live on cold tins of baked beans for a week!

Smores are like melted choclate onto a graham cracker. And when I go camping I bring a few diffrent foods. Some fruit, hot dogs, peanut butter and jelly, baked beans, and I too bring marshmellows.

most things in a can, the non perishables work best of course. I try to switch it up though and dont' bring anything too heavy. Not all beans or all granola. Canned fruit is great during the day. good for energy.

I usually take some 2-minutes noodles with me, and boil some water froma nearby river and eat that. I also sometimes take packets of chips and biscuits..
I also take dog-biscuits for my dog if he comes along!

Yeah - the usual of marshmallows, hotdogs, sodas, chips, fruit, also. Just a lot of junk food though, actually. I just try to picture what I'd want to eat on a giant picnic!
