Kayaking

Lately I have watched a few movies with kayaking, and it looks like a blast. Has anyone participated in kayaking who could share some stories with me. As right now my uncle kayaks and invited me to his house to go with him. So I am just wondering what would should be expected?

I've never been whitewater kayaking but I grew up on a lake and had a kayak that I used all the time on the lake. I also have two diveyaks for kayaking in the ocean on my sailing trips. They are inflatable so I can pack them in a duffle bag and take them on the airplane.
