Your favorite gear company?

Mine has to be Mountain Hardware and Arcteryx for clothing / outerwear, Gregory and Dana Design for packs, Scarpa for boots.

I've also become a huge fan of "feathered friends" for sleeping bags ... even though there name is kinda ...um ...

It's been a while since I've bought some things ... any great new companies?

I don't really have a favorite. I usually look for whatever is a good value and gets good reviews. I've ended up buying a lot of MSR and REI Brand stuff lately. My new backpack is REI brand and when I replaced my Thermarest I ended up getting the REI brand because it came with a stuff sack, patch kit and was $30 cheaper than the thermarest one. My backpacking tent is the MSR Zoid 2 and I bought a MSR Whisperlite International Stove last year. So if I had to pick favorites I would say MSR and REI.

Ahh yea MSR is a great company. Their stoves and pots are top notch ... I've had a whisperlite for over 8 years now w/o a hitch ... I've run it on diesel fuel too when I couldn't get access to proper fuel.

I haven't had to use any different fuels in mine yet but that's the main reason I got that one. Can't fly with the fuel and many of the islands and places in Brazil that I have been to don't always have easy access to fuel. It's a great little stove.

Yea I've had little problems with it. I think it got clogged once but flipping it over and using the weighted needle to clear it fixed the problem.

I do hate the wind screen though ... but I guess there really is no better alternative.
