Bicycle touring?

Hey there, I'm an avid cyclist,(I'm referred to as a commuter, my bike is my only transportation) and I average about 25-35 miles a day. I'm interested in joining a touring group next summer. Has anyone done something like this before? What type of training would someone recommend to prepare for these trips?

There are many websites than talk about the ins and outs of touring. Here are a few.

bicycletouring101.com

kenkifer.com/bikepages/touring

there are also some pretty cool blogs where you could glean some info.

downtheroad.org

crazyguyonabike.com

Happy hunting and good luck!

I did RAGBRAI one year. It's a bike ride across Iowa from West to East. There was a guy in our group that rode down from Minneapolis to do RAGBRAI. He rode totally self contained. I know there are a bunch or rides that are arranged around RAGBRAI either before or after. There's one that continues from the end of RAGBRAI through Illinois and into Chicago.

We have a bunch of Cycling associations and clubs listed in our directory.

Here's the link to the US Cycling section: http://www.365adventure.com/adventur...ted_States.php

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Explore. Dream. Discover.
