I think I started hiking with my dad when I was 8 or 9. It was cool because he always knew what kind of plants and animals everything was from being a boy scout.

I didn't really get much of a nature lesson while on hikes (although I wish I had. Things like that are so interesting), although I've picked up a lot through the books I've read since. I fully intend to take my kids on hikes and teach them everything I know about the woods and nature.

I started mine from a young age. They would go in those little backpack things on me and my wife's back. its great to share with them.
