Ray Mears

Is anyone here a fan of Ray Mears? He has an excellent survival program on one of the sky channels (can't remember exactly which one, near the discovery channels) where he recounts a story of extreme survival.

Some of the stories are truly astonishing. In one episode a man survives on a blow-up lifeboat in the atlantic for weeks before he was rescued - living only off water he could extract from the seawater using exaporation and hunting fish with a makeshit spear.

Yeah, I watch his show whenever I remember it's on.
(As a side note, it's on Discovery Civilization).

I've also got a couple of his books. I've got The Outdoor Survival Handbook and Ray Mears' World of Survival. Both make for fascinating reading and I'd recommend getting both out of the library if not buying your own copy.

I haven't read The Outdoor Survival Handbook. I'll have to check that out. but The Worst Case Scenario books are a good read.

I'm pretty sure I've got a few of the Worst-Case Scenario books. One on holidays, one on dating and sex(!), one on college and one travel.
If it's the same series we're thinking of here!

Ray Mears is one of the best British author and Tv presenter. I've read some of his books entitled Ray Mears' Bushcraft Survival. In addition, his TV programmes are great like Trips Money Can't Buy with actor Ewan McGregor.

I've never seen that, or even heard of it.
I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for it. I hate the thought of there being a Ray Mears TV show I haven't seen yet!
