Other winter sports?

I was just wondering what other winter sports people play? The content of this forum seems mainly focussed around skiing and snowboarding, although I play a lot of ice hockey and go sledding quite frequently.

I'd really like to try dogsled racing but I'm not sure I like the idea of having a load of dogs pull me around. I'm not exactly the lightest of people!

Snow ball fighting should be made a sport. It is a lot cleaner than paint balls.

Wow, ^ that is pretty cool I just thought it was kid's game. But I like to have a family sled races, and snowball fights like said above. I used to ice skate with my girlfriend though, but that wasn't outside.

I never knew it was made into a sport. I just remember always getting in trouble when I lived to the north, for hitting people with snowballs.

I think that snowball fighting is really cool, but would you call that a sport? I thought that it was just a fun game!

I went snowmobile riding down in New Mexico. It was an amazing feeling. I thought I was doing really well at first but it turns out I was holding up the group. We got to a break point and everyone told me I needed to speed it up . After that, I really did well, and almost lost everybody I got so far ahead (almost flipped off the mountain though at one point )

Snowball fighting a sport? It should be an Olympic sport.

Some of my friends in Vermont are really into snowshoeing. They also have huge snow slides at some of the ski parks. Kinda like a water slide but on the snow, you ride in a inner tube and apparently it's really fast. I wish I had had the chance to go that last time I was visiting...

Ice fishing seems really popular in Minnesota. I lived up there for a year or so and was shocked at the number of ice huts out on the lake during winter. Has anyone ever gone ice fishing? How much beer (maybe whiskey is a better choice) should one take for a day out on the ice?

I saw a tv show once highlight winter sports in Norway and Sweden. Up near the Arctic Circle there is a town with a fast food restaurant that has a "drive thru" designed especially for snowmobiles! I guess it's a big thing to do on date night!

I have some friends that take part in winter triathlons. It involves running, mountain biking, and crosscountry skiing all on snow. From what I understand it is very physically demanding and really fun.

Could you imagine? Running in the snow.
