Wild Country Zero Cam #3

The Smallest Cams In the World But The Biggest Dogs On The Block

“New products appear from time to time that make routes easier and sometimes people claim these advances warrant grade revisions. I know these claims are for real. Zeros will do much more than we can yet imagine. Speed times will shrink and grades really will need adjustment. These are the indispensable granite tools for the 21st century.” Kevin Thaw - Big waller, alpinist and all round athlete

Features:

  • Zeros Length - We have lengthened all the Zeros significantly by adding an extra trigger guide. This was always a possiblity but we really needed the confidence of a couple of years on the market to make sure that the Zeros were strong enough to resist excess bend and strain at the initial length. This new length makes more of a difference on the larger Zeros - it gives the triggering a better feel and makes them easier to place and remove. It also means they are easier to get in and out of deep placements. In a comparison with th old units they are approximatly 15% longer per size and up to about an inch of reach - a good increase.
  • Trigger - The other part of the re-work, though less noticable at first glance is the trigger. The original unit, we were told, especially when used with a combination of taped hands and big fingers, did not feel secure enough or easy to use. In hindsight the trigger was small and the flattened oval shape, even with the gripper spikes, did not do justice to the handling that was needed. The new trigger has been totally made-over with a much more obvious shaping to stop the fingers slipping off and is also about 40% bigger to alow for those fat '4th day wall' digits to fit easily.
  • Range - 8.5-12.2mm (0.33-0.48in)
  • Weight - 44g (1.55oz)
  • Strength - 6kN
  • CE Norm - EN12276
